Good Governance Champion Fellowship

Overview

The Good Governance Champion Fellowship is an innovative youth-focused initiative led by U.S. Embassy Youth Council Members, supported by a $4,500 grant from the U.S. Embassy Nepal. The program aims to educate and empower young people in Nepal on principles of good governance through interactive bootcamps, expert sessions, and creative learning methods across Bagmati, Madhesh, and Gandaki provinces. Creating Opportunities International acted as a supporting partner for this fellowship, managing logistics and providing technical assistance throughout the program.

The Challenge

Youth in Nepal often lack accessible, engaging, and practical education on governance, democracy, and civic responsibility. This knowledge gap results in low participation in democratic processes and weak accountability at the community level.

Our Approach

• Organized multi-provincial creative governance bootcamps combining learning with interactive activities. • Brought in governance experts, civic leaders, and youth advocates as facilitators. • Utilized gamified learning, discussions, and community engagement to make sessions practical and impactful. • Reached students, youth leaders, and local influencers to spark grassroots understanding of governance.

Conclusion

The Good Governance Champion Fellowship proved that youth are eager and capable of leading democratic change—when given the right tools and platforms. The program laid a strong foundation for long-term civic leadership and aims to scale across all seven provinces in the future.
