Project Shiksha: Breaking Barriers to Education

2024
Project Shiksha: Breaking Barriers to Education

Overview

Project Shiksha is a scholarship initiative led by 100 Group, Sowers Action Nepal, RONB in collaboration with Dari Club USA and Creating Opportunities. The project is designed to support underprivileged and high-performing Grade 10 graduates across Nepal by providing fully funded education, accommodation, and meals for Grades 11 and 12. It ensures that deserving students from marginalized backgrounds can access quality education and a stable learning environment.

The Challenge

Many bright students in Nepal are forced to discontinue their education after Grade 10 due to financial hardship and lack of support systems. This limits their potential and perpetuates cycles of poverty and inequality, especially in rural and disadvantaged regions.

Our Approach

• Launched a national selection process to identify talented but economically challenged students. • Provided full scholarships covering tuition, food, accommodation, and basic needs. • Partnered with trusted local organizations and schools to ensure safe housing and quality learning environments. • Monitored student performance and personal development through regular check-ins and support systems.

Key Results

  • 35 students from across Nepal were awarded full scholarships in 2024.
  • Strong collaboration with partners including 100 Group, Sowers Action Nepal & HK, RONB, Dari Club USA, Bindass Toli, and Creating Opportunities.
  • Built a sustainable support model to foster long-term academic and personal growth.
  • Successfully created pathways for marginalized youth to pursue higher education and leadership roles.

Conclusion

Project Shiksha is more than a scholarship—it's a lifeline for students who would otherwise be left behind. With growing support and proven impact, the project aims to expand its reach, nurture talent from every corner of Nepal, and break barriers to equitable education.

Creating Opportunities International has been a committed and reliable partner in implementing the technical and planning aspects of Project Shiksha. Their attention to detail and compassion toward students has made this initiative a true success story.
